Stronger Libraries, Stronger Communities: Building Lebanon’s Public Library Network

The training focused on the practical skills needed to strengthen library management and services, from work planning and identifying community needs to developing programmes, building partnerships and using data to inform planning and decision-making.

Librarians also explored ways to strengthen their connection with their communities, including promoting library services, documenting activities, engaging audiences and building relationships with schools, organizations and potential partners

Other sessions focused on information technology and digital resources, responsible internet use and the management of library collections. Participants revisited  the full lifecycle of a book at a public library, from selection and acquisition to cataloguing, circulation, evaluation and, where necessary, weeding, highlighting the importance of clear and standardized procedures across libraries.

But behind these systems and skills a deeper truth remains: what can a library truly unlock in a single person’s life?
