Israeli Strikes Kill 3 in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) Three people lost their lives in Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon on Saturday, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported, as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed it had targeted more than 70 Hezbollah military infrastructure sites over the preceding 24 hours.

One fatality was recorded in an Israeli drone strike on the town of Maarakeh in the Tyre district, according to NNA.

In the Jezzine district, Ali Badih, the mukhtar (mayor) of Rihan, was killed in a separate Israeli strike on the town. Earlier, NNA had reported that a drone targeted an employee of Lebanon's electricity company near his home, leaving him wounded.

A third person was killed in a strike on the town of Kfar Remmen in the Nabatieh district, NNA said.

Separately, the Lebanese Armed Forces announced via X that an Israeli drone wounded a Lebanese soldier in the southern city of Nabatieh.

The IDF said its strikes hit launchers and structures used by Hezbollah to conduct attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, adding that militants identified in areas where its troops were operating had also been killed.

Earlier Saturday, air raid sirens sounded in the northern Israeli village of Margaliot over a suspected hostile aircraft incursion. Israel's Channel 12 News reported the alert was triggered by an explosive drone launched by Hezbollah, which came down on an Israeli military post in southern Lebanon.

The cumulative human toll from Israeli strikes between March 2 and June 13 has reached 3,756 killed and 11,632 wounded, according to the Emergency Operations Center of Lebanon's Public Health Ministry.
