Israeli Army Orders Evacuations in Southern Lebanon Amid Ongoing Tensions
According to reports, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee instructed residents of Ghassaniyeh and Houmine al-Faouqa to leave their homes immediately and move at least 1,000 meters away toward open areas outside the villages.
Shortly after, additional evacuation orders were issued for the village of Ansariyeh, with residents told to move north of the Zahrani River without delay.
The warnings come amid continued instability in the region, where ceasefire arrangements have remained under strain. According to reports, tensions escalated earlier this week following cross-border strikes and retaliatory actions involving Israel, Lebanon, and Iran.
Earlier developments included an announcement from Iran stating it had halted attacks on Israel, while warning of a “crushing” response if Israeli operations in Lebanon continued.
The situation intensified after strikes on Beirut were reported despite the ceasefire agreement, prompting further retaliatory exchanges and renewed airstrikes across the region.
According to Lebanese authorities, the ongoing conflict has resulted in more than 3,660 deaths and over 11,300 injuries since early March, while more than one million people have been displaced as a result of the expanded military campaign.
Officials say the ceasefire, which initially took effect on April 17 and was later extended into early July, remains highly fragile amid continued military activity.
