Netanyahu Says No Final Agreement Reached With Lebanon

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Friday that no deal has been reached with Lebanon at present, despite United States–backed attempts to halt the hostilities, according to Israel’s official broadcasting authority.

He made these comments at the beginning of a session of Israel’s Security Cabinet.

Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, noted that a ceasefire arrangement with Lebanon "is not yet finalized," stressing that "from Israel's perspective, there is currently no agreement," due to Hezbollah’s rejection of the suggested conditions.

He further stated that "the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon has not been fully formulated and is not yet complete."

In addition, he remarked that "Hezbollah opposes it, and therefore, from Israel's perspective, there is no current agreement," according to the Israeli prime minister.

He also highlighted that US President Donald Trump is "a strategic partner of Israel," underscoring the importance of maintaining ongoing communication and negotiations among the relevant parties.

Meanwhile, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir informed government ministers that political leaders must decide how to proceed with the next stage, adding that "the army is also prepared to expand the fighting if that is decided upon."
