Iran Warns US, Israel Over Lebanon Ceasefire Violations
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered the warning in unequivocal terms on X, the US social media platform owned by Elon Musk.
"For immediate attention: The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts," he wrote.
"The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation," he added.
The statement was preceded by a separate warning from Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, who cautioned early Monday that Tehran would not stand aside if Lebanon came under attack — pledging that Iran would not hesitate to support Lebanese resistance against what he characterized as Israel's "illegal aggression" against the country.
The warnings land as regional tensions surge once more. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his military Monday to strike Beirut — a direct escalation that cuts against the US-mediated ceasefire that has nominally been in place since April 17.
The broader confrontation between Iran, the US, and Israel traces back to February, when Washington and Tel Aviv launched coordinated strikes against Iranian territory. Tehran responded with retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and US allies across the Gulf, compounded by the closure of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation took hold on April 8, but subsequent diplomatic talks held in Islamabad failed to consolidate that fragile halt into any durable or binding arrangement — leaving the region once again on the edge.
