Israel Orders Evacuation of 16 Southern Lebanon Towns

(MENAFN) The Israeli military issued evacuation orders on Tuesday targeting residents of 16 towns in southern Lebanon, in what reports describe as a further breach of the ongoing temporary ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

According to statements published on the social media platform X, an Israeli army spokesperson instructed residents of several locations—including Ghandoorieh, Borj Qalaouiyeh, Qalaouiyeh, Sawaneh, Jmeijmeh, Safad al-Battikh, Braachit, Shaqra, Aita al-Jabal, Tebnine, Sultaniyeh, Bir al-Sanasil, Dounine, Kherbet Selem, Selaa, and Deir Kifa—to leave their homes and move northward.

The warning was issued, as stated in the announcement, in response to what were described as violations of the ceasefire by Hezbollah.

The spokesperson claimed that civilians would not be harmed, while urging immediate evacuation toward the Sidon area for safety. The statement also cautioned that individuals located near Hezbollah fighters, infrastructure, or military assets could be exposed to danger.

Despite the ceasefire agreement, reports indicate that Israeli strikes in Lebanon have continued, with repeated accusations of violations on both sides. US President Donald Trump was quoted recently as saying he had attempted to discourage Israel from conducting airstrikes in Lebanese territory.
