Three Lebanese Rescuers Trapped in Rubble Following Israeli Strikes
"Civil defense personnel were targeted while carrying out a rescue and medical mission for people injured in an Israeli airstrike in the town of Majdal Zoun," the agency said in a statement.
Three civil defense members were trapped under the rubble, it added.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun swiftly condemned the strike, with the Lebanese presidency posting a sharp rebuke on X, the US social media platform owned by Elon Musk.
The attack "adds to a series of assaults targeting relief and ambulance workers, which shows that Israel continues to violate international laws and conventions," the Lebanese presidency said on X, citing Aoun.
The strike is the latest in what Beirut characterizes as a sustained and deliberate pattern of attacks on humanitarian personnel — a charge that intensifies scrutiny of Israel's conduct under international humanitarian law.
Israel has continued its attacks on Lebanon despite a temporary ceasefire brokered by Washington. US President Donald Trump first unveiled a 10-day truce between Israel and Lebanon on April 17, subsequently announcing Thursday that the pause would be prolonged by three additional weeks.
The broader toll of Israel's military campaign, which began March 2, continues to grow. Official Lebanese figures show at least 2,534 people killed, 7,863 wounded, and more than 1.6 million displaced across the country.
