European parliament denies debate on Gaza strikes
In the vote, 433 lawmakers participated: 173 supported the debate, 244 opposed it, and 16 abstained. “The right and centre voted no,” the Left group stated on social media.
The European Parliament convened in Strasbourg, France, for a plenary session running from November 24 to 27. The attacks in Gaza violated the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2024. Local authorities report that at least 342 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army fire since the ceasefire began.
Since October 2023, nearly 70,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have reportedly been killed in Gaza, with over 170,900 injured during a two-year conflict that has left much of the enclave in ruins.
